After days of rain we finally had a bit of sunshine this afternoon that allowed me to venture out into the garden. And happy for me, some mushrooms have popped up in our neighbors yard. With all the moisture, they were bound to pop up somewhere!
I don’t like to eat mushrooms, but I really enjoy photographing them. The textures and shapes are just fascinating.
Such a cute little pair popping up out of the mulch. There actually is a ring of them around one of the beds of mulch. Fairy rings go by many names and have so much folklore and superstition surrounding them. The yard where the fairy ring popped up today is my former neighbor Betty’s and she has always had fairy rings in her yard, most of them would just pop up in the grass.
Of course, we never thought they were evil or brought bad luck. We always were delighted to see them. Many of the tales about them have to do with them being a place where the fairies dance. And that must be a happy occasion, so that must be why we are always so delighted to see them. So I was happy to see this one today. And I just enjoyed all the different shapes and stages of the ‘shrooms.
Especially this group! Don’t you think it kind of looks like a bat? I certainly do. Maybe you see something else. But I think this little bat is so cute. Too bad it didn’t pop up at Halloween, then maybe it might make the fairy ring a little spookier. But it won’t be here for long, so I will enjoy it while it lasts.
