I have told you before about a place near our home where Keith and I love to go and walk – the South County Wetland Trail. Yesterday morning was a beautiful morning to take a walk, so we headed over with my camera to see what we could see while we took a little walk. We always find things to see on our walks there and Sunday morning was no different.
I took lots of pictures. There were birds and flowers and when we got to the overlook of the marshy area, we stopped to view the cat tails. They were covered in dew and they just glistened in the sun.
Some of the leaves looked like someone had sprinkled them with glitter. They were amazing! But suddenly, they started moving. And it wasn’t a breeze. Something was in there.
Surprise! Well, hello there Mr. Buck! Nice set of antlers you have started there.
Oh, and I see you have a friend with you today. Yup, there were two bucks down there in the marsh among the cat tails. Evidently they heard us and got spooked.
And the next thing we knew, they were off. The first buck had already dashed off by the time I caught this one in upward motion leaping out of the marsh into the wild rose patch.
They were both gone in a flash.
And they crossed through the wild roses to the bank of the hillside on the opposite side of the park. There is the first buck.
And as he went into the trees on that side to hide, his friend followed him.
And after a few more seconds, they were both gone into the trees. I have to laugh at how we startled them, but they also startled us. It was fun to see them and watch them leap through the marsh and rambling roses to the security of the trees on the far side of the trail area. We never know what we will see when we go for a walk, it is always entertaining.
