Can you believe it is Fall already? I am so ready! Fall is such a wonderful time of the year. I love the cooler days, crisper nights and being able to enjoy the mountains painted in colorful hues of orange, yellow and red. I have been busy looking for inspiration on Pinterest the last few weeks and one of the items that I noticed repeatedly popping up everywhere were Chinese Lanterns, or Physalis.
And since this is a Pinterest Round Up, just click on the image to take you to the original link.
Chinese Lanterns are a perfect addition to Fall and Autumn décor with their bright orange, papery seed sack. And they are popping up everywhere. I noticed them in wreaths and door décor first.
Like this simple Chinese Lantern and Twig Wreath from Etsy.
Or this Fresh Bittersweet and Japanese Lantern Wreath, also from Etsy. The lanterns can go by Chinese or Japanese and they pair well with Bittersweet vines.
And even these artificial Chinese Lanterns make a great piece of décor for your door.
But I really like how they work with natural elements. Especially these two pieces that I photographed in Colonial Williamsburg a few years ago at Christmas. They actually look more Autumn than Christmas anyway.
I love the feathers, dried flowers and other seed pods that they used.
And they don’t require a fussy arrangement – just look at what some bittersweet and a burlap bow will do when you add them to Chinese Lanterns. Simple and screams Fall to me!
They also make great arrangements to bring indoors. Just simply add a few stems to a vase for a pop of orange color.
They look great with or without pumpkins and gourds.
I love them in this rustic firkin.
And a salt glaze crock works well, too!
And I love them in this old enamel body pitcher.
They are even added to Fall Arrangements with Fall Fruit! This is a beautiful way to set a tablescape!
And so is this! They make a striking arrangement on their own!
They even work well in Fall Bridal Bouquets!
You can get crafty with them and string them to make a garland!
You can use them as filler to make beautiful candle rings.
I also like how they are used here to decorate a ring of lights.
Here they are removed from their stems and used to cover fairy lights. These are perfect for Fall!
And if you don’t feel like making them yourself, you can buy these premade lights.
All in all, I think I may have to plant some of these beauties next year in the garden. They are so versatile and add such a bright pop of orange to Fall decorations, no matter how they are used. You can find more Fall inspiration on these Pinterest boards so take a break and browse through to see what ideas get you motivated to add a splash of orange, yellow or red to your décor.
