If you know me, you know I love my pollinators – the bees, the butterflies and other insects that help our garden stay beautiful year after year. One insect that we really love is the Sphinx Moth. They are also known as Clearwing Hummingbird Moths because they are often mistaken for Hummingbirds.
Well, yesterday one of these lovely creatures entertained me for quite some time and I was able to capture a good video of it working the Phlox. The video is a little over a minute long an I hope you take the time to watch. You can see it using its proboscis to feed on the nectar. These insects are extremely fast as they hover over the flowers, meticulously gathering nectar from each one before moving on to the next flower. They are always fun to watch in the garden and I am so tickled I was able to get a good video. Enjoy!
