Up until this year, I had no clue what Instagram was. When I finally got into the world of android and apple apps I found Instagram and found a cool way to create and share pictures with my phone or mp3 player. Instagram is an app that you download for free and it allows you to take a picture with your device and then alter it with cool retro and artistic filters and post them to your profile. You can also follow the profiles of others or just amuse yourself.
I like it because I may not always have my camera with me and I can take a picture with my phone, make it a little artistic looking, post it and have a memory of what I wanted to capture at that moment. And, sometimes I will use Instagram pictures in my posts, especially if I am posting from my phone or iPad. It’s just another form of social media out there and a fun way to experiment with the little pictures that your phone can take.
Instagram has become so popular that now people offer apps just to use to enhance your pictures before you put them on Instagram. And you can by borders and elements to add to your pictures before you upload them. Or you can take a class in how to do cool things with Instagram…I think you get my drift.
Well, I am a late-comer to Instagram and I can say that I do enjoy it. As you can see above on my profile, I documented my trip to NYC last month via Instagram. We were there the weekend Sandy hit and were lucky enough to get one of the last trains out thanks to quick thinking Keith who alerted us to change our plans that Saturday morning. I was able to also get some pictures with my good camera and regardless of Sandy, we had a wonderful time.
Anyway, if you have an android device or iPhone, give Instagram a try. See what art you can create with your phone!
