Today we found a cute little cupboard to fill a corner in the dining room by our fireplace. We actually found it yesterday while out shopping around a few antique malls and brought it home today. The space we had to fill was tiny, so when Keith spotted this little gem, we had to come home and measure.
It is not a super fancy cupboard and it was very affordable and didn’t require any work other than cleaning the glass on the front. It’s hard to find little cupboards that don’t cost an arm and a leg and that don’t need major work. We like ’em a little rough and well used and we knew we would be using for our Yelloware collection, which has been filling up other cupboards in the house. We simply needed some moe space and that corner was doing nothing but collecting junk, so we also had a reason to clean up a little, too.
I love the dark stain. It’s almost a black it is so dark. It pops against our dining room’s red walls and the Yelloware contrasts nicely, too. I will need a few more crocks for underneath. I want to store kindling and Keith’s woodstove accessories in them. And yes. The woodstove is going today. It’s chilly outside and toasty inside. I love our woodstove, but that’s another story.
We were able to get quite a bit inside. We have lots of smalls that were crammed in another cupboard and this displays them well. And there was even room on top for a nappy filled with a candle light to brighten up the corner.
Happy, happy today about our found treasure!
