A few weeks ago I came across this pretty little stretch bracelet at a tag sale. Well, you know me and how I like to repurpose treasures that I find into other useful things! I loved the little heart charms and thought they would be pretty as earrings or part of a charm and even parts of a new bracelet.
I don’t think the components of the original bracelet are anything special – just silver metal – but I decided to pair them with some black gemstones and gray accents from my stash of supplies.
The elastic on the original bracelet was no longer stretchy, so I knew that was a good sign it was time to reinvent the piece.
I had this pretty piece of Larvikite that I thought would look nice made into a pendant with some dangles at the bottom.
Larvikite is a type of igneous rock with flecks of Feldspar that give off light. It is found in Larvik, Norway, thus the name.
It is also mistaken for Labradorite and sometimes called Blue Pearl Granite.
I added smokey gray roundel crystals, black banded onyx beads and silver plated spacers along with one of the Silver Heart Charms from the tag sale bracelet. There is a silver connector that you can use to slip over the chain of your choice. I have worn this with a nice heavy silver chain and a leather cord. It looks best when it hangs on a longer necklace. I think it turned out well.
I took two more of the Silver Heart Charms and used them to make pierced earrings.
I kept them simple and added smokey gray bicone crystals and black banded onyx.
They are on silver plate ear wires. And I still had more Silver Heart Charms and beads from the original bracelet so it was time to make a new bracelet.
I was able to use all of the rest of the components of the original bracelet to make this funky memory wire wrap bracelet.
I added LOTS of black banded onyx beads, beautiful labradorite round beads, and more of the smokey gray roundel and bicone crystals.
And the Silver Heart Charms are spaced throughout the wraps with the remaining decorative silver beads and silver plate spacers. I was able to repurpose components of that one bracelet into three new pieces, connecting all of them with those Silver Heart Charms. It’s fun when I can take something old and make it new again.
