A while back I wrote a post about two new cool iPhone apps I was having a lot of fun with. And I told you that I would be sharing my Instagram pictures with you using those two fun apps. Well, without further ado, here they are.
I am not a huge decorator, but I do like having Christmas and winter decorations up this time of year. And I have a huge collection of items from my Sister-in-law Vicki that she has made for me throughout the years that I love displaying. Above are a set of Noel blocks that she made for me years ago, probably one of the first items she made for me. I put them in the kitchen above the sink with a little wreath. I spend a lot of time there so why not decorate there?
And this is an ornament banner that I made with help from Keith. Years ago I painted the Crescent Moon Santas on the glass balls and I usually display them in a large yelloware bowl, but Keith commented that they would look great on the mantle as a banner. And there you have it, a new decoration is born. I thought long and hard about how to string them, and finally settled on using red satin ribbon and brass tacks. I like how it turned out.
And this is a favorite gift from my Mom. Years ago we had this store where you could find the best seasonal and everyday decorating items and they had this wonderful Nativity set in white porcelain. It is not glazed, just a bisque finish and it has all the needed pieces, with beautiful detail. The problem is finding a place to display it where it will be safe from curious kitties. Last month I mentioned that we found a little cupboard for our yelloware…well, that also helped me clean out the perfect place for my Nativity set. We have lots of cupboards, one is a step back with a space about a foot high right in the middle where the cats really cannot get to. It’s protected and therefore a great spot to place my cherished Nativity.
Here are a few of the snowmen painted decorations made by Vicki. She also made the sign on the left.
I also have some other snowmen in my collection, like these here. I made the little one in front many years ago.
I like his lite wreath!
And here is a little Snowman Family I have had forever…
And another little primitive guy hanging on a cupboard.
Another favorite of mine are these plastic pine cone light covers. They snap on mini lights and have glitter on them so they really sparkle. Don’t know why they are a favorite, but they are!
It’s hard to see how they sparkle in these pictures…these lights are hard to find, thank goodness for Keith’s patience and ebay.
Santa shelf sitters amongst the Yelloware Molds…
More painted goodies from my SIL….
She made this sign, too!
This really is so pretty lit up!
More of Vicki’s Santas. She usually sends me different ones every year. I am always amazed at all the different ideas she comes up with.
Like this Santa Candy Box…great for candy canes.
Or this Rocking Santa. Just cute as can be. Short, round and fat.
Or tall and skinny.
Sometimes they are even three dimensional. I even have one with real fur trim.
And this one is a large wooden spoon!
I even save some boxes we receive gifts in, like the Harry & David Snowman boxes from treats we received one year from Keith’s sister Janice. I have that one for a while!
I even decorated my bathroom this year by adding berries to this cute little glass bootie my neighbor gave me. I also have a wreath in the window. I haven’t decorated bathrooms before, but just those two little touches bring a smile and make me feel merry!
We have lots of other decorations up and lots more that weren’t even used this year, like our tree, but all of these make me happy and are helping us to celebrate the season. I had fun decorating and even more fun sharing pictures on Instagram.
