You know I love Pinterest and that I find lots of great ideas there…..well I am woefully behind on getting my thank you cards out and decided to try something I had seen on Pinterest to make a few quick & easy cards.
I pinned these recently thinking they looked super easy and were cute and inexpensive to boot. I started gathering my supplies. I found some paint chips that I had on hand, my stash of blank craft paper notecards and looked through my paper punches. I didn’t have anything small enough for my paint chips that looked right, so I came up with idea of making little banners for the cards. Buntings and banners are another decorating/crafting idea that I like.
First I cut up my paint strips into little triangles. The paint strips I had contained seven graduated colors and had writing on them. I cut off the writing and was able to have six different strips of color, which I then cut into seven little triangle wedges for each strip. The notes cards I used were a smaller size, so using one little wedge of each color would give me a banner of six flags per card and seven cards in a set.
Now I just had to draw my banner lines on my card. I used a brown Sharpie, I love Sharpies, don’t you? I only had a fine tip in brown so I thickened up my lines a little.
Then I just added my wedges using a good old glue stick. I tried laying out light to dark and dark to light. I liked the dark to light the best.
Next I stamped my sentiment and that was it! Super fast, super easy and super cheap. Of course you could even handwrite a sentiment. And, the banner theme can work for so many different occasions: Thank You, Happy Birthday, Celebrate, Thinking of You, etc.
I like how these turned out. I am so glad I had this idea pinned.
