Yes, Spring is near! I walked around the garden today and captured a few blooms on my phone. It is still cold, too cold to bring out the big camera, and too windy today. The windchill is what gets you if you stay out for a while.
These daffodils always bloom the earliest. They were a surprise gift from the previous owner of our house. When we moved in which was late summer, the first project we completed was adding a deck. The following spring, these little daffodils started coming up through the deck. They didn’t bloom, but Keith carefully removed the boards and dug them up and moved them around front. They are such a bright and beautiful yellow!
And the crocus are starting to open up. I have loved these since I was little. They are so brilliant and cheery on a winter day. I love the regal purple of this batch in our yard.
This mound of Lenten Roses actually started blooming a couple of weeks ago and it is loaded. I also have some dark red ones getting ready to open. These flowers last forever it seems. You have to get down on your knees to see inside the flowers, they usually hang downward.
Another favorite blooming right now is my second group of Snow Drops. I have a group by our front door that bloomed last month. This group always blooms later. It is over by a concrete bench and our red camelias.
These little Grape Hyacinths are blooming out back. They pop up everywhere in our garden, but these are the first bloomers this year. These are a favorite of Keith’s every year.
I was glad I was able to enjoy the blooms today. They are promises of what is yet to come! I cannot wait!
