You know it’s a good day when you get to sleep in late because you don’t have to go to work. And when you have a huge presentation to cover the next day and you are ready for it, so you can enjoy your day off. And when you wake up and the sun is shining brightly on a beautiful spring day. And when you log in to check email and you see that you have sold a huge print to a stranger of a favorite memory from a favorite trip. And while checking your email you have a warm little cat curled up in your lap purring contently.
Yep, it’s a good day.
Our first day in Ireland we stayed in Athlone. Athlone is in the center of Ireland so to speak and is a very cool old town. The buildings were all colorfully painted and cheery and inviting. We walked around for a long time soaking it all in. Luckily, we came across Seans Bar, not knowing it was the oldest pub in Ireland and a destination for many travelers as well as the locals. We just thought it was a cool place and I loved the Guinness sign on the front.
Our trip to Ireland was one of luck and chance. Many of the adventures we had were because we were lost or had a flat tire or someone told us to change our plans and go somewhere else instead. One of my favorite places was Maam Cross, in the scenic Connemara region of Galway. We never would have seen the Connemara and Maam Cross had we not been lost.
That was a good day, just as today is a good day.
