At the end of April, beginning of May, we had the opportunity to visit Virginia’s Historic Triangle with Keith’s brother Mike and his wife Vicki. They came to visit us from Washington State and wanted to see Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg.
When we were leaving Yorktown Battlefield, we drove out of the park by a water feature and came upon this family of Mute Swans. It was wonderful to capture them all together and the cygnets were so cute and fuzzy. I am not sure why they were ever referred to as ugly ducklings. I think they are adorable.
The entire time I was snapping picutres from the car the pappa swan was keeping a close eye on me, so I did not dare get out. I have heard that like geese they can be very protective and aggressive around their territory and families. So, I snapped a few pictures and we watched them go about their swimming before heading on through the park.
It was a great way to end a great day, with our family watching their family.
