I cannot tell you how much I love my garden phlox. Right now they are in their full glory.
All of the phlox out front we brought with us from our old house. We carefully dug up some of each variety in late August heat and kept them in large buckets for a couple of weeks until we could transplant them that first September we lived here.
They of course looked horrible, but we knew how hardy these plants could be so we babied them through the fall and mulched them well that first winter.
And they have thrived ever since. Our old house had lots of sun and this house had so much shade we worried they might not do well here, even if we were able to save them from the moving process.
But sun or shade, they love where they are planted and they pop up all over now thanks to our gold finches that help spread seed around in the fall.
And the bees and butterflies and sphinx moths help keep them pollinated all summer along with the hummers that like to visit in the evenings. I just love the girlie look, the beautiful colors and the abundant activity they bring to our garden.
