Another Saturday of yardsales produced a few more treasures.
I found these five silverplate serving pieces for $4. They will make great clappers for the windchimes that we make. Our friends Betsy and Jerry made our first set for us and then Jerry showed Keith how to make them and we have been hooked ever since. The thing we have the hardest time finding are large serving pieces for clappers, so I was tickled to pick these up this morning.
I found these pretty little rhinestone earrings for $5 (they also came with a necklace that I don’t think was a match, but the lady would not break up the “set.”) I am going to take the posts off of these and use them for pendants for necklaces. Keith said that my sister will like the beaded necklace that came with them, so it’s a win.
I really enjoy my Saturday morning yardsale time. Especially when the weather is beautiful and it’s not too hot yet. I also get to peak into gardens and sometimes that is where you can find great ideas to bring home to your own garden.
After my yardsaling this morning, Keith and I went to a couple of local nurseries to look for hellebores. He has a new area he wants to put some in and we already have some close by that are well established, so they should do well there.
First we went to Greenbrier Nurseries and found a few, but they were a little pricey. We decided to check out another local nursery in Salem called Riverside. We found a few there and they were more affordable so we got three to start with. We love the hellebores that we have already and hope that these will thrive. They are so pretty when they bloom and are early bloomers, starting in late January, early February. Then they have pretty green leaves for the rest of the year and are great for under our large pin oaks in the front yard.
So now, we have several projects at hand. I may start on dismantling the earrings tonight. Keith will probably start on the garden tomorrow.
