Yesterday I talked about how grateful I was for being able to experience the four seasons of Nature here in Virginia. Well, there are two modern conveniences that I am also grateful for: heat and air conditioning. Without those two, maybe I would not appreciate Winter and Summer quite as much. I often wonder what it must have been like so many years ago, having to secure some kind of heat source every day to keep your family warm, or having to deal with heat and humidity wearing layers of petticoats and wool dresses. Whew! Today, all I need to do is come home and adjust a thermostat on the hallway wall to make my house warm or cool, immediately taking care of a need. I am grateful that men and women smarter than me were able to figure out how to make things like that little thermostat on my hallway wall keep my family comforted, whether it be to warm us from the cold or cool us from the heat.
