Monday we celebrated Veterans Day here in the US. I know I probably should have posted this then, but I am so thankful for those that serve our country in the military. Keith and I have family and friends that have served, so it’s not something we take for granted.
Monday we watched some specials on one of the cable channels about WWII. We learn about that in our history classes in school, but these specials made it a lot more real. I cannot imagine what our servicemen witnessed first hand in Europe, Africa and the Pacific. We live about 30 minutes from the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. I have never visited but now it is on my list to do next summer. After watching the sacrifices these men made for human rights in a foreign land I know I should stop by and pay tribute to those brave men that died so that others could liberate the oppressed.
I was really moved by those specials and not only for our WWII vets, but for all that choose to serve in our armed forces. They are heroes just for accepting the call. They will never know how much gratitude and respect I have for what they do.
