Today has been a most beautiful June day. We had a front come through last night that dropped the temperature about 15 degrees from the day before and the breeze is blowing the clouds by in a crystal blue sky. Not a normal June day.
I decided to take my iPad out today and try taking a few pictures in the garden and play with them on Instagram. Instagram is an app for iPhones and Android phones that lets you take a picture and apply a filter to it to make it look grungy, vintage or artistic. You can read more about it on their blog. I have been playing with it on my MP3 and decided to see how my iPad pictures would turn out today. So here is a little tour of what I found in the garden today, altered with Instagram.
Our Hydrangeas are wonderful this year. This bush is blue and purple with one branch that is pink.
Here you can see the pink branch, with our wisteria arch in the background.
The pink, blue and purple blooms with Keith’s Celtic Cross in the background.
I love how they look this year. Just wonderful.
Here are our tiger lilies with lambs ear in the forefront and pink fairy roses down below.
Going around to the side yard I found some feverfew blooming beside a section of old iron fence. This feverfew is from Keith’s Aunt Betty’s yard in Pennsylvania. Years ago we brought home seeds and now it happily pops up around the yard.
On this side of the house we have several variegated Hydrangeas. They have lace cap flowers and just like the others, some are blue….
And some are pink.
I soon realized I was being watched by the Pixinator from one of our windows. She wondered what Mommie was doing out in the yard.
Around front we have lots of Coneflowers, a favorite of goldfinches in our yard.
Purple Coneflowers…
White Coneflowers…
And even some hybrids, like this Hot Papaya Coneflower.
This delicate little flower is a white Rose Campion, an old-fashioned favorite.
And no garden is complete without daisies, like these Shasta Daisies.
A lot of these flowers are blooming earlier than usual. I even have butterfly bushes blooming that don’t usually bloom until July and August. It was a nice day to be out and about and enjoying the garden. I also enjoyed playing with my iPad taking pictures and altering them in Instagram. This will not replace my trusty DSLR, but it is nice to have a fun quick way to share memories.
