I found this humorous cartoon on Pinterest and wanted to share with you. If you have cats (or even dogs) I am sure that you understand what the cartoonist is trying to convey here. And I think she is spot on!
But for us, we have a few more zones. For instance, we have a bed that has storage underneath. And there is just enough room for Pixie and Dixie to slip underneath in between the sets of drawers. They have their own little crawl space if you will. And this can be quite exciting in the middle of the night when they decide to crawl up the back of the bed by the headboard and your face. They use their claws you know to climb up the back of the bed and sometimes those claws will dig into body parts that happen to be close by.
And there is a glaring spot. That is the spot where Shadow would sit until you woke up to feed him. Usually at all hours of the night. Now his little sister Dixie has assumed the position in pretty much the same spot he used to use. Her usual time is about 3 am.
Another thing we have going on is multiple cats that share our bed. Stormie used to love to sleep sideways on the bed. To be so tiny she sure knew how to take up almost half of the bed. Keith and I would be squished together on the other half with 2 or 3 other cats on top of us. Pixie likes to take her baths when she is settled in someone’s legs or in between us and it amazes me how a little 5 pound cat can shake the entire bed when she bathes. She is extremely animated when she bathes, almost like she over exaggerates every move and it shakes the entire bed. And Dixie often times likes to get under the covers with us. Of course when she does this I have to hold up the cover to make sure she has air. I then cannot sleep because I am worried she will suffocate.
Then there are the times where you are afraid to move for fear of waking one of the kitties. Not that it’s our bed or anything and they can sleep all day while we go to work, but still, you just cannot bare to wake that sleeping little ball of fur that purrs so sweetly when you move the slightest little inch. Many a morning I wake up all stiff from lying in an uncomfortable position for way too long just so Stormie or Dixie can sleep uninterrupted.
But, this past weekend we were away and I missed those little warm bodies on my bed. It is not the same sleeping in a bed without them. Even if they only sleep with us for a little while, it is still comforting to know that they love to be with us when it is time to go to bed.

I love this! It is so true, especially during cold winter nights.
