You may remember that I shared with you my One Little Word for 2014. It’s a long word…Opportunity. Well, one thing I want to do this year is take advantage of Opportunities that challenge my creativity. I have done this in the past by taking the 31 Days Challenge and I have done it twice now. It was hard each time, but I love the fact that I did it and the fact that after I did it the first time I never thought I would do it again, and I did!
So this year, I am going to tackle two projects: one involves Instagram and the other will be here on the blog. Each of them look to be a huge challenge and I am hoping that I will be able to take full advantage of the Opportunity each will present. These each will involve a year-long commitment, one being a daily commitment and one being a weekly commitment.
The first, on Instagram will involve taking a picture every single day of the year. I have seen a lot of other users do this and there are several blogs and sites dedicated to providing prompts to help you find inspiration along the way. I will hash tag those pictures #projectlife365 so that they are easy to find. I hope I have a great story by the end of the year. Here are the images I have taken so far.
This is the Celtic Cross that Keith built. He made the mold for this himself, and there are 3 others made from this mold that our in the yards of our friends. I love photographing this in our garden in every season and I thought this was a great way to start off the New Year.
These are some of the new toys that the girls got to open on Christmas Eve. I found them like this in the middle of the sitting room floor Thursday morning. In a neat little pile. In the center of the room.
We are having a real cold spell right now, so this one seemed appropriate for yesterday. I love my heated seats on cold days. Yesterday morning on the way to work it was 19 degrees.
And this morning, it was a mere 13 degrees by the time I got up but this little wood stove insert was putting out the warmth thanks to Keith, who got up early to get it going. I love this insert. So warm and very efficient. It does not burn tons of wood like the old wood stoves, it takes little pieces and keeps them going for a long time. Must be science or something, I don’t care, just as long as it is warm.
I hope that this Opportunity will document my daily life in a way that takes the little things into consideration. It’s easy to forget little details of what happens in your daily life. Big events sometimes have a tendency to take charge. I hope that this exercise will help me notice the details in new ways. I may post updates on the blog from time to time, but you can follow along on Instagram for daily updates.
The second Opportunity I want to take on is posting 52 Weeks of Lists. Lists are a great way to document your life, they are often used as a journaling tool by Scrapbookers and I am going to use prompts from a few places for my weekly lists. I followed Carrie’s lists in 2013 and my also use Moorea Seal’s prompts for creating my lists. Or maybe I will create my own lists. Regardless, I plan on sharing a new list each week and as I do this, I hope to learn more about myself in the process.
So, two Opportunities to start the year off! They both look fun and I know they will be a challenge. And, if you include my OLW, that makes three! What challenges will you try this year?
