I am sure many of you have snow, thanks to Winter Storm Pax. But I wanted to share a few pictures I was able to get today of the two feet of snow we received since yesterday from this monster weather system.
I took some quick pictures while I was at lunch (I still worked today – from home at least) and then later when I got off. What a difference a few hours made. The shot above was from lunch time when we only had 13 inches of snow.
Keith measured this morning in several locations and they all were consistent, 13 inches.
But by 3 pm, this was the view out our sliding door onto our deck…a little wall of snow. Which now measured 21 inches and it was still coming down. So to help you better understand the difference, let me show you some lunchtime pictures and some after work pictures.
Here you see the birdhouse at lunchtime.
And here it is a few hours later.
This little birdbath out front kind of looks like a mushroom at lunch.
Yet a few hours later, you would never know it was there, but that strange hump gives it away. The snow reaches the base.
Here is a shot of Keith’s Celtic Cross at lunchtime. Look at the snow and where it hits the gate on the arch.
And now look at where the snow hits the gate. Wow.
And here is the snow on the kitchen deck at lunchtime.
And here it is a few hours later. You can only see the tops of the chairs.
And look at the snow on the rails. Our citronella lantern is almost completely covered, top and sides.
Here you can see the front yard in the afternoon. I don’t have a lunchtime shot, but just look at the depth. Keith had shoveled out the walkway but you would never know it.
And that funky little row of arches is actually the top of a fence that borders the walkway down the front yard. Well, it has stopped snowing again right now, but we now have 24 inches of white stuff. Some of you may say this is nothing, but for living in the south where a normal snowfall is 2-4 inches at a time, 24 inches in 24 hours is crazy, just crazy….but awfully pretty, too!
