Oh Deer, What a Pair!

March 11, 2014 by tigermucha 2 Comments

Two weeks ago while I was home sick, we had visits from our deer almost every single day.

And it wasn’t just one, but two or three at a time.  Sometimes you had to look carefully, like spotting this set of ears behind the Fairy Rose bush.

On this day when I was able to take a few pictures, it was just these two.  They were both down by the herb garden, they had found some old honeysuckle and grass to nibble on.

Most of the time it was these two and one more…we think it was a Momma and two of her offspring.

We think these two are the offspring.  They came up on our deck one day and you could still see faint spots on their coat, but not on the larger deer.

We were kind of amazed that they were so bold in the middle of the day, too.  Usually we see them at dusk.  But they were in the garden every day, middle of the day, sometimes several times during the same day.

And when they were done, they would head back to the bamboo and disappear.

That bamboo hides them pretty well.  I wonder where they go from there?

They were fun to watch and I am sure they will be back again.

What a delight to see! We often have deer behind our house too. I don’t mind them as long as they stay on the outside of the fence and stay away from my garden. They like to eat and live in the wolf willows behind our property.

Yes, I don’t like when they eat my hostas, but they can have all the honeysuckle they want!
