I told you already this week that we visited our local nursery, but I didn’t just take pictures for inspiration. Keith and I bought plants, too! And Keith and I have a rule. Whatever we buy, we have to plant, and usually that day! There have been times where we just gorged on buying plants without getting them all in the ground and sometimes it became a struggle to get them all planted, so hence, the rule. Plus as we age gracefully, it does tend to get a little harder sometimes to get things planted, if you know what I mean.
It is still a little too cold for some of the tender herbs that we like to buy, so we held off on those for now. But we did get some foxgloves and catnip. We get those every year. For some reason, my biennial foxglove never seem to re-seed, so I just buy new six packs every year to make sure that I have some bloom each season. What I plant this year will bloom the next, and so on. Maybe one day they will spread on their own. And catnip never lasts around our house. Not only are we picking fresh leaves for our babies, but the neighborhood cats always seem to find our patch and devour it.
But the gem of the day were these wonderful double flowered primroses! I fell in love with primroses in Ireland, they grew wild everywhere and I have always wanted some for the garden but never got around to it. That is until now.
Isn’t this just beautiful? It is called Belarina Pink Ice. You can find out more info here. I just love these. I am probably going to kick myself later for not getting more. But remember the rule. They remind me of Fairy Roses that we have in the back yard. And they are loaded with buds underneath those blooms so we should have a show for a while.
The other Primrose that we got is called Belarina Cobalt Blue. You can find out more about it here. Wow is all I can say.
They really are a deep purple, not blue but man oh man are they a knock out! Just amazing! I am in love.
I still need to get the little yellow Primroses like I found in Ireland and add them to the garden, but for now, these will do! They are real show stoppers!
