Remember when I shared my Pinterest Bathroom inspiration board for the soon to be Remodel? Well, it is here! We are in full blown Remodel, the Big “R” so to speak.
It started last week. I came home to see this on the carport.
We are having this done by a contractor, the same one we used for our kitchen deck addition and small bath redo. We are not DIYer’s so believe me, we have to go this route. And we are good with that. At least this way it gets done right, nobody gets hurt and we keep most of our sanity throughout the process.
As you can see, we have a small footprint that really cannot be changed without doing a MASSIVE overhaul. We are still doing a major redo, but we are leaving some things, like the tub, and re using others, like part of the original medicine cabinet.
We are getting rid of the outdated tan flecked tile, as you can see here, and 50 years of wallpaper. There are quite a few layers that the contractor removed. Better him than me! What a task!
And two things we are really excited about. Electrical outlets…
And additional lighting and an exhaust fan!
This bathroom is so small, it is like a sauna after anyone takes a shower. That exhaust fan will help so much in keeping the moisture at bay! Those two things, little as they are, will make the world of difference.
Here you can see the wallpaper is finally gone. Along with the tile. We are going to have a wood treatment on the bottom and paint the top. That will make another big difference.
And so will having the medicine chest recessed in the wall. It will make the room appear to have more space. Part of reusing the current piece is to save money, and part is the fact that we like the way it is, we just want it recessed and trimmed to match our new vanity.
We’ll it will be pretty torn up for a while. But it will be worth it when it is all said and done. So for now, we have dust everywhere and the girls are rattled every day when our contractor is here working. They take to hiding under the beads and come out when he leaves and go investigate his progress. And we are making progress. I am excited!
