Mushrooms have always fascinated me. I love to look, but not touch or taste.
I get excited when I find them popping up in our yard. Like this little trio that I spotted behind the deck last week. They often just spring up in the mulch, seemingly overnight. I think they are great to photograph, you can see some I have captured here. They have cool shapes and textures.
And they sometimes go through a metamorphosis and change shape or color, like my trio. A few days after I snapped that first photo with my phone, they looked like this.
Here is another little toadstool under the wisteria arbor. Reminds me of a bell. Almost looks like a marshmallow that’s been roasted on a campfire.
Something took a nibble out of this one. Kind of looks like a shingled roof on a little cottage.
And from the top, it looks very different. Another magical thing about mushrooms. They can take on a different appearance, depending on how you look at them. I have always thought they were magical.
They really add a fun element to the garden. Here is one that I found under one of our azalea bushes out front.
I like the little scalloped edges.
And these are always interesting. They look like rotten potatoes growing in the mulch.
It’ just a Fungus Among Us!
