This morning before work I ran downstairs to get a new box of Kleenex when I happened upon two of the “children’s” toys neatly lined up in a row in the family room.
It was a pair of pom pom balls that have been around forever that we find all over the place on any given day. Today they were on the carpet in front of the loveseat in the family room, neatly arranged in a straight line. This really does happen all of the time. Usually we find them in the food dish or where someone has been sleeping recently. It’s like when they get tired of playing they place them somewhere familiar for safe keeping. Not sure what the deal with these were, but it caught my eye and I had to come running back down with my camera phone and snap a quick shot.
There is also a yellow one of these pom pom balls; part of the original trio of balls. I am amazed that they are all still around. Seriously, we have had them probably as long as we have lived here, which is over 10 years. And they have been through everything and are full of little lint pieces and strings and the yellow one has a big red stain on it from where it fell in either juice or kool aid or some other type of red liquid.
Imagine my surprise this evening when I spotted Dixie enjoying an evening sunbeam in the front window with the yellow pom pom ball and another one of their toy balls (an old wiffle ball taped up to hold it together) resting on the corner of the table by the cushion she was laying on. Proof of what we find all the time. They finish playing and go to eat or rest and leave the balls in a secure place where they will find when they are feeling energetic again.
They are so funny how they do this. I have mentioned before the story of the catnip mice and how those are left in unusual places. But the pom pom balls are usually near a place where the girls feel comfortable and safe. Go figure!
