On Saturday I told you about life inside Marksburg Castle. The tour inside was our last part of the tour and it was time to head back down to our ship so we could sail down the Rhine for the rest of the afternoon.
But before I go, I want to share a few last images with you.
We really had a fun time touring this castle which is home to the German Castle Association.
We were surprised by the gardens.
I loved the many unusual doors at the castle.
There were fun details everywhere you looked.
And just as promised, when we arrived back down from the hill top, our ship was docked and waiting for us.
It was just a short walk through a lovely little park to get to our ship.
It was a beautiful day and you could see our Captain waiting for us to board so we could head down the Rhine to view even more castles from the upper deck of our ship. Our incident with the tourists on the way down from the castle held us up a little bit, so we were a little off schedule. With everything that Viking plans in your agenda, getting off schedule can be worrisome for the crew. But they handled it well.
And there was a wonderful spot that our Viking Crew pointed out for us to take some great pictures of the castle. We were across from St. Barbara’s Church and the Braubach War Memorial.
They were right. It was the perfect spot to get some last minute pictures of the castle from the town below. But it was time to head back on board and get some lunch. We decided again to eat in the Aquavit Terrace so we could enjoy the views. I enjoyed a pumpkin soup with pumpkin oil garnish. Something new to me and it was delicious. Our chefs never ceased to amaze us. And of course, everything was freshly prepared and out of this world yummy.
And then we all headed up to the upper deck where we captured a few last pictures as we sailed on down the Rhine.
I love how the perspective changes the farther away we sail from the castle.
Good Bye, Marksburg Castle! We had a great time!
