Earlier this month we went to South Carolina with our friends and family and spent the week in Surfside Beach. This year our house was close to the Surfside Pier. One morning, Keith got me up very early and had me take the tripod out on the beach to see if I could capture early pictures of the sunrise. This was my first time using the tripod in darkness and I was also using my shutter remote so that I could have hopefully longer exposures to capture the early morning activity with some clarity.
Of course, you never know what kind of weather you will have each morning or what kind of sunrise you will witness. There were a lot of clouds off shore and when I took the shot of the pier the sun had not come up from behind the clouds. Then eventually it started to peek through an opening. I took hundreds of photos that morning and actually had quite a few turn out. I love how the ocean looks in many of the shots. The longer exposure changed the appearance of the waves, making them look soft and smooth. I have quite a few images of this morning’s sunrise on FAA. It was fun trying something new. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get up early again that week, but Keith said he thought I was able to witness the best of the days that day.
