A week ago today we brought home two new babies to join Pixie and Dixie and become part of our family. Keith met a wonderful lady named Diane that works for an organization called Barn Cat Buddies and through her we were matched up with two siblings, Spencer and Katherine.

Spencer is in the front of this picture, taken on their first night in their new forever home. His sister Katherine (or Katie) is behind him. She was giving him a bath, that is why she is blurry in this shot. We put them in our guest bedroom the first few days so that Pixie and Dixie would have time to adjust. And of course that first night I could not let them sleep by themselves, so Pixie and Dixie slept in our room with Keith and I slept with these two.
Here is a short video of Katie finishing up Spencer’s bath before she starts on her own.
This one is a little grainy, but you can see Katie from underneath the bed, one of her favorite places to play. If you walk by too closely you may have your toes pawed. She loves to hide under there and attack.
It didn’t take long before they had full run of the house. Our transition went very smoothly. Here you can see Spencer resting on my lap after a hard day of play in the family room. He and Katie have lots of room to run and run they do, at full speed. For hours. And then they get wiped out and sleep for hours.
And then they are wide awake again and ready to play. Spencer and Katie are a Siamese mix, each with different markings. Spencer’s markings are more tan on his ears and tail.
Katie’s are more gray and she has a lot more coloration on her head and face.
And Pixie and Dixie are doing well. There have not been any fights, only some hissing the first few days. They mostly are just observing, like Pixie did here, high above where little kids cannot yet reach.
And of course, after more play, Katie can comfortably sleep about anywhere. They really love running around in the family room.
Here you can see more of Katie’s markings. She and Spencer both have beautiful pale blue eyes and loud purr boxes. They are extremely sweet.
And sometimes we put the newbies in the guest room for a bit so that Dixie and Pixie can have some one on one time with Mommie and Daddy. Dixie gets really excited and runs for her cozy by my laptop so she can get her belly rubbed. And Pixie has to be brushed by Daddy’s workbench downstairs.
On Thursday I came home to this. They were both squeezed into Dixie’s cozy in the chair that gets great sunbeams. With a toy catnip mouse right in front.
Oh, Mom, we were sleeping.
Really, it’s time for us to get some more sleep, please.
And just like all of our kitties, Spencer had to help me wrap some Christmas gifts for our great nieces. I mean, tissue paper and ribbon? Yes please!
Katherine and Spencer have made the transition to our family very easily. These last few days we have had abnormally high temps so we have had the windows open. And they have loved it.
And Saturday Pixie even accommodated Spencer and did not leave when he wanted to sit with her in the window.
There was smelling, but no hissing.
And so, Pixie has no issues today with sharing her window with Spence.
And he snuggled right up with Pixie. And she was a good big sister.
And later even Dixie let Spencer lay with her in her cozy by the computer. And so, that wraps up Spencer and Katherine’s first week in their new home. We could not be happier. Pixie and Dixie probably could be a little happier, but they are troopers and are adjusting slowly but surely. I will post more updates on Instagram, so you can follow me there. That’s where I usually post pictures of the kids. Oh, and so far, the Christmas Tree has been knocked over once. We are hoping that will be the only time this season, but we have a few more weeks to go. Keep your fingers crossed!
