Today was the big Spring open house at one of our local nurseries, Walter’s Greenhouse. They are a favorite place of ours and we love going to their open house every year, not only to get plants, but also to see what new and fun things they have available, like these hyper tufa planters or the cute little dog yard art. They always have great ideas garden accessories and great plants.
And they always have plant giveaways. Several years ago they gave away these beautiful Amaryllis bulbs. Mine just finished blooming. It had two wonderfully beautiful blooms.
This year they gave away lemon grass. I will probably have to bring it in in the winter. Hope it does well.
Walter’s always has cute and beautiful garden accessories, like this flying pig with goggles. Adorable!
Or this clever chicken. Or maybe it’s a rooster.
Or this rabbit. I really liked him. They had cats, too. Several that I wanted to bring home today. They were very popular and I couldn’t really get a shot of them with all the people around them.
I really loved these colorful planters for climbing plants. What a great way to add color to your yard.
But I think what stole the show today were they many creative displays of succulents. Walter’s has been featuring succulents for years, before they became all the rage. I love them in the head/bust planter.
And their wreaths were beautiful. So full of texture and color.
They had a class this year that I would have loved to take. Maybe next year.
What I really loved were the framed succulents!
These were new this year and I really like how they presented them.
They looked like they belonged in an art gallery. They were breathtaking, the pictures from my phone don’t do them justice.
And what a great way to use an old birdbath. The spiral pattern of different kinds of succulents fits perfectly in this type of planter.
And this is another Walter’s speciality. Year after year they have amazing topiaries. In years past they had some cool turtles, they had an elephant one year, you just never know what they will come up with next.
It was a pretty day and we ended up bringing home some herbs for a fun planter idea that I had. More to come on this.
I can tell you that the idea worked, I am sore from working in the yard and all the bending and squatting. Amazing how those first few workouts in the garden will get you.
And oh, aren’t these little insect planters just too cute?
