Today was a day I have been looking forward to for some time. Twice a year there is an antique show in Fishersville, VA at the Expoland Fairgrounds. It’s an indoor/outdoor show and one of our favorites. The weather today was sunny and not too hot and made for an enjoyable drive and show.
Of course, I want to share the treasures that I found. We did pretty good today. We are getting to the point where we definitely have to be able to have somewhere to display the treasures that we find, so we don’t always bring home everything we like due to just not having room anymore. Here is some of what we found today.
Three more vintage silverplate serving pieces. We are going to use these for clappers for windchimes that we will be making when we go to the beach this year…one of many craft projects that we will do while there.
A Chintz Lorna Doone 2 tiered server. Lorna Doone Chintz is a favorite of mine. I would love to start collecting pieces to make a set like I have done with my Pansy Chintz. When I was in Scotland and Ireland, I saw lots of Lorna Doone chintz, so it also reminds me of those places.
Small Yelloware Banded Bowl. I have plenty of bowls, but love the bands on this one and the size is easy to fit into our collection. Plus, it was only $13, so we couldn’t go wrong.
Yelloware Milk Jug or Crock. We had not seen one of these before so we were thrilled when we were able to score it for $25 and add it to our collection. We love getting unusual items and so many times cannot afford to pay the prices on them. This was a treat indeed. Today we saw lots of nappies, pie plates and rectangular dishes. It’s funny how some shows you see so many multiples of things, especially things that most times you do not see at all at a show. I know I could count 10 different nappies today.
Keith found some neat vintage brooches for me to make into necklaces today. I love this round one with green rhinestones. Some of the large stones have wear on them, but the overall piece is very attractive and I think it will make a nice focal for a OOAK necklace.
This brooch is big and beautiful and will make a lovely hanging pendant for a necklace. When I went to pick it out of the case, right as I touched it, the lady said “Careful, it’s probably hot.” Whew, was she right! The metal was baking in sun. It was too hot to handle, so to speak! Anyway, I really like the floral design in the metal. It’s missing a rhinestone, but I think I might even be able to fix that.
We almost always find neat things in Fishersville and today was no exception. We had a beautiful, fun day. I cannot wait until the fall show now!
