For the last month or so, our town has been protected by the Avengers! Yes, it is true! I have proof!

You see, we have this iconic landmark sign on top of one of our downtown buildings. It’s a vintage neon Dr. Pepper sign. The sign has been here for as long as I can remember and sports the “Pepper Time” slogan of 10, 2 and 4 which was popular well before World War II I believe.

And since Dr. Pepper was a sponsor of Marvel Comics new Avengers movie, what better way to promote the movie than to have a few hanging around?

Keith took me downtown at the beginning of the month and we took a few pictures of Iron Man, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk. I cannot ever remember any type of promotion like this happening before with the sign. Usually it in itself is enough advertising. It lights up at night and is just pretty darn cool itself.

I sure am glad we took pictures when we did. Last Friday they took them down. We drove by them at 7:30 am on our way to an antique show and by the time we came back that afternoon they were gone. It sure was a neat promotion and I am glad that they visited my hometown for a while at least. Thank you Dr. Pepper for a great topic of conversation and some cool photographs!
